Indica and sativa are considered to be a species of the genus Cannabis. However, it’s relatively rare to find either a pure Sativa or a pure Indica variety, as most cultivated varieties of cannabis today are a hybrid of the two, being either indica or sativa dominant.
As more scientists study this plant, we’re learning that the classification of cannabis into Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid is incredibly oversimplified and the subject of intense debate. The cannabis plant contains a huge array of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, all of which interact with your body’s biochemistry in a very unique way. This means that you may have a totally different reaction to one strain, then say, the next person.
We’ve found that a better way to classify cannabis is to go by the ratio of THC to CBD. That’s why you’ll see all of our cultivars in three different categories, THC dominant, CBD dominant, or a balanced ratio.
